To simplify things, we group our tutors into three main tutor categories.
Part-Time Tutors – refers to private tutors who doing it part-time from A-level graduates, Diploma students/graduates to Undergraduates. To a lesser extent, there are also University graduates and working professionals offering tuition part-time and they fall under this category. Part-time tutors are normally the cheapest option for home tuition in Singapore.
Full-Time Tutors – refers to full-time private tutors who teach as a profession. Full-time tutors may/may not be university graduates but often have significantly more teaching experiences than part-time tutors as they tutor lots of students 1-to-1 as well as take up jobs in tuition centres teaching groups of students in classes. The actual qualifications and experience of a full-time tutor can vastly differ between individuals, hence so does the tuition rate they command.
MOE Trained Teachers – refers to ex/current school teachers either from MOE or from private and international schools. Tutors under this category tend to be the most experienced and qualified in private tutoring and thus command the highest tuition rates. Be prepared to pay a premium in order to engage these teachers successfully.
KiasuTutors is an online networking platform for tutors to advertise their services by listing their profiles (e.g. subject specialisation, tutoring experience, rates, track record, teaching methodology, learning materials …). We do not conduct background checks to verify the authenticity of the identify and information posted by tutors. Nonetheless, we do require each tutor to provide accurate and truthful information about him/herself, and to keep the information up-to-date, when they register an account and update their profile with us.
Parents could however communicate with tutors via text messages, emails or phone calls to verify or find out more relevant information about the tutors directly. For example, during the first lesson, you can also request the tutor to bring along their relevant certificates, samples of teaching materials, etc for further authentication. If your child has a specific learning need or request, please do make it known to the tutor. For private home tuition, do provide a conducive and safe location for the tuition session.
Parents could arrange with selected tutor for one or a couple of trial lessons, before committing to a long-term tuition for your child. You can then gather feedback from your child as well as the tutor after the lessons(s) to make more informed decisions.
Parents are to discuss and understand the tutor’s or tuition centre’s terms of service, such as:
Payment mode and date
Arrangements for lesson(s) missed, or those that falls on a Public Holiday.
Any other extra fees payable, etc
We are not a tuition agency and hence we do not collect any agent fees or commission from parents. KiasuTutors.com is a free online advertising platform for both private tutors as well as tuition centre operators to list their tuition services. You can liaise with the tuition providers directly, find out more about their tuition services and relevant experiences before committing to a tutor / tuition centre.
In the case when you prefer to let KiasuTutors help source and recommend suitable private tutors or group tuition, you can fill up the “Tutor Request Form” and let us know your specific request. After receiving your request form, our KiasuTutors team will help source through our database of private home tutors / tuition centres and filter the most suitable profiles (up to 5 profiles) within 3 working days to be emailed to you. We will then help to do the initial link-up between you and your most preferred choice of tutors / centres. Our KiasuTutors team will maintain communication with you until we know that you have found a suitable tuition for your child.
In the event after a few sessions of tuitions and some unforeseen factors surfaced and you found the tutor not suitable. You are free to communicate with the tutor directly on the reasons of termination, as well as how and when you would like to end off the tuition service (based on prior agreed Terms of Service given by the tutor). If you are withdrawing your child from a tuition centre, please adhere to the Terms & Conditions of the centre regarding termination and withdrawal form a tuition class.
Before the commencement of a tuition lesson, please find out from Tutor (for private home tuition) or Tuition Centre (For classes) on the terms of payment (cash, cheque, bank transfer, etc) and when a payment is to be made (before commencement or after completion of a number of lessons). Please also make sure you have clarified about any extra fees or charges payable (e.g. Materials fees, deposit, admin or registration fee), as well as additional charges/fees in situations when your child could not attend lesson(s). It might be good to have some form of written agreement with regard to the main payment details between both parties.

KiasuTutors’ Tuition Assignment Referral Programme (TARP) provides ease and convenience by helping to match tutors to tuition assignments. Under TARP, KiasuTutor will also link up the Tutor and the Tutee/Parent to ensure smooth process of communication.
Upon a SUCCESSFUL trial lesson (paid or free) through “TARP”, a tutor must pay 25% of a full month tuition fee to KiasuTutors as the referral commission (i.e. 1 lesson fee for a 4-lesson per month cycle, 2 lessons fee for an 8-lesson per month cycle, etc), instead of the industry market rate of 50%.
This upfront payment for the commission is required within 3 working days after confirmation of continuation of tuition by the tutee’s parents. This payment is not refundable.
However, if a parent decides NOT TO CONTINUE with the tutor after 1 to 2 paid trial lesson(s), 50% of the total lesson fee will still be payable to KiasuTutors.
No fee is payable if the first trial lesson is FREE, as agreed and confirmed by all related parties.

Kiasututors.com.sg is a free networking internet platform which aims to connect tutors to their prospective tutees and parents with ease and convenience. We do not stipulate the minimum commitment for tuition assignments, though the default industry standard is minimum 1 session per week per subject. Each tutee is unique, have different commitments and constraints, as well as different learning needs, hence both tutors and parents must discuss the best tuition commitment to achieve the desired learning outcomes and performance for the tutee.
Each tutee matters to their parents. Parents will always want to make the best-informed decision, within their financial abilities, to engage the most suitable tutor for their child. Hence it will be beneficial to reflect in detail the tutor’s experience, teaching methodology and learning materials, track records, desirable personality traits, testimonies from tutees and their parents, photo artefacts, etc. While the Basic tutor profile listing enable each registered tutor to list, for free, basic tutoring information for one academic level only (e.g. Sec Level), our kiasututors can further consider employing any of the following three enhanced marketing features, at a nominal advertising cost, to enhance the chance and frequency of receiving a parents’ enquiry:
Premium Membership (introductory fee: $36 for 3 months): This feature will enable tutors to be have enhanced fields (e.g. longer tutor description, testimonials, photos upload, more levels for subject listings) to impress the prospective parents, hence enabling them to make more informed decisions. Top Ad (Introductory fee: $48 per month): This feature will push a tutor listing to the “top and front” of our website listing. Tutors signing up must be at least 18 years old and have achieved a minimum of A-level, Diploma or equivalent. It is important to have your documents and certificates in easy access to facilitate clarification of your qualification if needed.
Registering an account with KiasuTutors to list your basic tutoring services and information to the public is free until 31 Dec 2021. However, your account can be suspended after 6 months of inactivity. Tutors are expected to log in ay least once within a period of 6 months to update their tuition service information. This will allow parents and students to access the latest and most up-to-date information about our tutors. Please note that you are legally obliged to use your own identity, to submit information which is accurate and truthful.
Prior to signing up as a tutor, you are to read and be familiar with the Terms and Conditions for using the KiasuTutors website to list your tuition services.
Payment to Tutors will be made by the tutee/parents. The mode of payment will depend on the arrangement that the tutor has made with the tutee/parent. KiasuTutors do not assist in ensuring that payment to the tutor is made on time.
You are to use your own personal information and particulars to register an account for yourself as an individual private tutor offering 1-1 tuition or classes. The KiasuTutors team will follow up on user accounts with duplicate contact numbers, emails etc to verify the authenticity of these multiple accounts. KiasuTutors will not hesitate to refer such incidents to relevant authorities if there are reasons to believe there has been unauthorized usage of another’s identity and personal information.

There is a termly (every 3 months) $15 subscription fee for each account registered on KiasuTutors.com.sg with the minimum of 1 term (3 months). This termly subscription fee of $15 is currently waived so do sign up as soon as possible to take full advantage of FREE subscription period.
Payment to Tuition Center will be made by the tutee/parents. The mode of payment will depend on the arrangement that has made between the Tuition Center the tutee/parent. KiasuTutors do not assist in ensuring that payment to the tutor is made on time.
Tuition agents, agencies and centres are not permitted to list other tutor’s profile which bears the same agent’s contact number or email in the listing. KiasuTutors will suspend/delete these listings associated to the ACRA Registration number and block them from KiasuTutors web listing services. Re-activation of any account will incur an administrative charge of $100 per account. Criminal mal-practice will be referred to relevant authorities.
